Stressful Times

Between finals, end of the year work-pressures, consumer confidence at an all time low, and rampant layoffs, I feel like everyone has nearly lost it. Maybe it is just me, but NYC seems stressed.

Leave it up to Thomas Bangalter, of Daft Punk fame, to create a track that reflects today's mood. This down-tempo, grime-infested, chromatic-scale driven b-side will make anyone lose their cool. Its not your typical Daft Punk dance-fest, but still pumps hard and stays true to the French touch.

Music Today

I was working out earlier and came across a Chewy Chocolate Cookies track, Cheeseburgers. About a minute into this oddity, you get hit in the face with a sicknasty electric payload. As I was getting into it, I paused to realize what I was listening to. Distorted electric noise.

Here is a clip of the build into the drop:

It's funny to me, engineers have spent nearly a decade perfecting the art of recording music. Recently, with artists like Justice, we've watched as the norm got destroyed to create a path for this new type of sound. I see it as the distorted guitar reinvented, as our parents scream "what is that crap you are listening to?"

Maybe a week from now we'll sit in dark rooms and listen to white noise get pounded by drums. Until then we wait for the newest SebastiAn remix. Here is one to hold us over:
